If these motors were part of a fully assembled vehicle, the effect of this sketch would be that the vehicle would be capable of avoiding hitting an object by slowing down on approach, until it came to a full stop.

We can also notice that in this configuration the period of one cycle, thus the frequency, will always be the same, because the Perfeito resistance, while charging and discharging, will remain the same.

We can order the PCB from JLCPCB which are the PCB fabrication service of EasyEDA, and also they are the sponsor of this video.

In the circuit diagram, slider of the potentiometer is connected to analog input pin A0 of arduino. Resistor R1 limits the base current of the transistor Q1.

Thanks. The maximum current output depends on the transistor, in my case it’s TIP122 which can handle current up to 5A.

For example, if you touch the base with your finger it could cause current into the base and the motor will rotate. This is not mandatory but it is good to include to reduce chances of accidental starting of the DC motor. The DC motor is connected as load at the collector.

will increase and subsequently motor speed will decrease. Thus the speed can be controlled by varying the resistance in the diverter.

In the above wave forms you can see that the frequency is same but ON time and OFF time are different. Two applications of PWM control using arduino is shown here. Controlling the LED brightness using arduino and motor speed control using arduino.

A linear regulator keeps the output voltage at a constant level with a resistive load. The output is stable pelo matter what input voltage is supplied by the power source.

Time to do the wiring. You can remove the potentiometer to the circuit from Project 2 and replace it with the ultrasonic distance sensor. I am copying here the complete instructions so that you don't have to jump back and forth between the two articles.

This increase or decrease in power supplied to the motor is what increases or decreases the speed of the DC motor. In fact, PWM technique is so widely used to control DC motor that microcontrollers(not only Arduino or ATmega328p) have in-built PWM circuitry embedded in the chip.

More precise sensors—such as resolvers and optical encoders—are more appropriate with motors that use vector control (see below), where flux is more finely controlled.

The protection diode and decoupling capacitor are connected across the motor. Be careful about the diode polarity connection direction. The diode prevents back emf from motor that might destroy the transistor. The capacitor is used to reduce EMI(Electromagnetic Interference) noise created by the motor.
